Our Story

BeachGroomer started in 2002 in Detroit Lakes, MN. Craig Colman wanted to get rid of the weeds on his lakeshore. He came up with a contraption, powered by an electric irrigation pump, that spins plastic bars in a 15 foot diameter arc. A chain link dragline hanging from the bars helps pick the weeds and muck off the lake bottom. Lo and behold it worked beautifully. Craig and his wife LaRae proceeded to sell these units all over the US. One thing Craig discovered as he put the BeachGroomer together is that the pump used to power the device was not very user friendly. This problem was solved as the pumps were wired by BeachGroomer with a plug and play 8 foot cord. The hose, check valve, filter, and stand were all color-coded for more ease of set up and operation. No tools are needed to get the BeachGroomer going. The pump that powers the weed removal device also is great for watering your lawn and garden. After shipping products all across the United States for over 20 years, with hundreds of units still operating, The Colmans sold the company in 2023. BeachGroomer moved to Eden Prairie, MN that year.  BeachGroomer continues it’s dedication to serving our customers with innovative and affordable ways to enhance their lakeshore experience.
